Kelli Grant, the Queen of Swing & The Former Texas Playboys

Kelli Grant > Western Swing

This is a first for the Queen of SwingKelli Grant & for the Texas Playboys. It's not really a big deal but then again it is. The fact is, NO WOMAN had ever fronted the Texas Playboys since their inception in 1935. Well, it's very simple. Bob Wills owned the band and he fronted it. When he died Betty Wills, his widow put the guys out on the road with Leon McAuliffe fronting the band. But the name was owned by Carl Johnson, owner of the Reo Palm Isle in Longview, Tx. So the name was dormant for a few years before Carl gave the name to Texas Playboy Casey Dickens with a signed document. Casey gave it to Leon Rausch and Tommy Allsup who awarded the name to Jason Roberts.
To this day, the Only woman to ever front the TEXAS PLAYBOYS is
the Kelli Grant the Queen of Swing and here's the video that proves it.
